Even though 2025 has started out rough in our nation, and even in some of our communities, I hope you are experiencing an abundance of happiness and health. As many of you know, on December 26th a double homicide took place in Park Forest where a firearm was used. A 51 year old grandmother and her 30 year old daughter were shot to death in the 300 block of Miami, leaving two children traumatized and without their loved ones. This Wednesday, January 8th @ 6 pm, a Prayer Vigil for Victims of Domestic Gun Violence is being held at Grace United Protestant Church in Park Forest. (flyer below) The young people who are apart of our Youth Violence Prevention & Creative Arts program will be performing in dance and giving their “Stop Playing Games Violence Prevention” speeches towards the end of the progam which is scheduled for about an hour.
